Our team had another meeting about Zambia and will now be meeting twice a week to fast, pray, and talk about logistics. We got all of our paper work handed to us. A lot of formality papers, a waver, and an equipment list. The equipment list is as follows:
Mosquito net
Pocket knife
Ziploc bags
Clothes pins
Sunscreen
Sleeping bag
Sleeping bag mattress
Blanket, sheet, pillow
So that may give you a glimpse of how I will be living 5 of my 7 days in the bush. I know it was an eye opener for me J I don’t have much more info than that for right now but as soon as I get more I will be sure to post it. Also still not sure how communication will look when I get there but we’ll see.
Masi this week was good. We had another Bible study with the group of teenage girls and they appointed a girl in their group to run the Bible study next week so we will be meeting with her by herself first to give her pointers on how to facilitate a Bible study. We are very excited to have them running the study. Hopefully this way when we leave they will continue to meet. This Sunday was Palm Sunday and in Masi a lot of people attend church and also some groups of people hold small group parades through the street singing and preaching as they go. It was quite and experience. Oddly I saw more drunk people than on an average day. We had kids club on Fri as usual. We asked Nceba to join us and help out with the kids. He is amazing with children and I wish he would come help us every Fri. After we played games in an open field and were coming back to the house were we hold the Bible club, we were walking with a group of about 40 children, and they were all singing and dancing in the streets in unison all the way back to the house. I have never wanted a video camera so much in my entire life to capture that moment. It was amazing to see and experience and will stay with me forever.
Some food fun and info…….. I found these snacks called Nik Naks. They are like cheetos but way more amazing and cheesy, I love them!!! We had our first week of eating lunches from our new cook, Michelle. She is very nice and has an adorable son but I still love Sylvia’s food moreJ I probably bias but that’s just the way it is.
Some random things happening in my life right now…………..Lisa has gone back to Germany now so we are down one roomy. Jasper (our cat) got very sick and almost died but was taken to the vet and put on antibiotics and has made a full recovery. He is eating like a wild man and growing quickly. Everyone remember Bob? He was our mouse friend that was camping out I Africa House. He was chanced out a couple of brave souls and made it safely to the bushes outside. Well, last night Jasper found Bob and made his first official kill. I was very proud because that is the whole reason he was taken in, in the first place to kill the mice and finally he succeeds!!! He was very proud of himself. If you think of it please be praying that if he kills anything else he won’t bring it into our room as a trophy. All I can think of is Jasper jumping through our window in the middle of the night and bringing me some dead animal onto my bed.
Sylvia still hasn’t had the baby!! She went to the doctor and they gave her a new due date, however that works!? They said April 1st so I am still prepped and ready to go whenever they call.
Prayer requests:
-Team unity on my Zambia team
-God to provide a sewing machine for a woman in Masi
-Health (doing well now)
-Safety (just in case)
-For Jasper to not feel the need to show me his latest kills at the wee hours of the morning
-That God will continue to clearly show me His direction
-That I will continue to have patience with communal living
Thank you all so much for your continued support in prayer and finances and in keeping in contact with me through email.
