This week in class we were given a presentation on the ministry opportunities available at All Nations and we were also given a letter of intent to fill out not as a permanent statement but more as what we intent to continue to pray into. Sadly I have yet to fill mine out. That is something that you could pray for me about because I feel like I have some things up in the air and I need clear guidance.
Also this week because of Good Friday we had Friday, Saturday, and Monday off. On Sunday (Easter) we had a celebration. During celebration all of the simple churches and Bible studies in the townships come together and we all have church together. We have a time of worship and then break off into small groups to study the same passage together. Then, we had 2 people get baptized and had lunch together. We took communion as a symbol to remember what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross. We also had a program for the children with songs, coloring, and a lesson about Jesus dying on the cross, and also they took communion. We had between 60 or 70 children so it was a major undertaking to say the least. I helped with making sandwiches, setting up the tea and coffee station, crowd control, and clean up. I also took some pictures of everything happening that day.
HE HAS RISEN!!!!!!!
In Masi this week I only went in on Thursday and our Bible study with the teenage girls fell through but it made it possible to go see another man we met and have a Bible study with him which turned out to be really good.
I have a small update on our outreach to Zambia. We have jobs that we needed to split up and delegate. They include: finances, communication, transportation, equipment, and medical. I will be doing the communication job. I will need to keep a photo journal as well as submit a weekly report to All Nations. I will also be the scribe for our team meetings. I’m pretty excited about this and I think it will be good. Also I’m thinking if I have to be in contact with All Nations then we must have internet access somewhere, some how but, nothing for sure yet. Also, one of our team members, Tesfaye will not be joining us anymore. He has to return home to Ethiopia to be with his family. He is married and has 3 children and they all need him so he will be leaving this Tuesday 4/6. If you could please pray for him that he wouldn’t feel any shame in leaving and not finishing CPx and that he would have safe travel home. Also he is going to be praying about coming back to CPx to finish next year and wants to bring his family with him.
So because we had so many days off in a row there was more opportunity to do some things around town. I went to the Blue Route mall and braved the crowds to look around and shop. There is a Christian book store thee and I found 2 books on sale which was awesome and I also bought the best Children’s Bible I have ever scene. I also had the opportunity to climb Chapman’s Peak and totally did it!!! It took us 2 hours to hike up and 45 minutes to come down. Once at the top you can see everything all the way around the mountain. It was amazing and I got some awesome pictures. That evening when I got home a group of us went to the beach and saw the sunset, it was beautiful and words just can’t describe how amazing an African sunset is.
One random thing I thought of today that I have never mentioned is the wind here. We have days like today when the wind is intense. We have 30 mile an hour gusts and sometimes it feels like when you’re walking, if you pick your feet up too high you may be blown over. Needless to say on windy days all of us have special hair dues J
Prayer Requests:
For Tesfaye, safety on the trip home and to not feel defeated for having to leave.
Health for me
Team unity for our Zambia team
Clear guidance and wisdom from God
Safety for me
These are my roommates. From the left: Whitney,
Amanda, me, and Rachel. You can bearly see it but the sunset is behind us. Like my shirt? One of the guys at CPx is an artist and he painted it for me.
